AN APPROACH TO THE A RING OF VITAMIN D ANALOGUES VIA SEQUENTIAL CARBOMETALATION/ ANION CAPTURE
An intramolecular palladium catalysed carbometalation followed by anion capture achieves construction of a model comprised of the A ring of Vitamin D oxygen analogues.

UNLABELLED BACKGROUND Despite considerable global investigation over several decades, the roles of vitamin D in health and disease development remains convoluted. One recognised issue is the difficulty of accurately measuring the active forms of vitamin D. Advances made include some new methods addressing the potential interference by excluding epimers and isobars. However, there is no evide...
متن کاملBiological evaluation of new vitamin D2 analogues
1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3 (1,25D), a steroid hormone which regulates calcium/phosphate homeostasis, has a broad spectrum of anti-cancer activities, including differentiation of acute myeloid leukemia (AML) cells. In order to avoid undesirable side effects such as hypercalcemia, low-calcemic analogues should be produced for therapeutic purposes. In this paper, we describe biological activities of...
متن کاملThe use of vitamin D analogues in chronic kidney diseases: possible mechanisms beyond bone and mineral metabolism
Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a common and costly medical condition, and currently available therapeutic options remain unsatisfactory. Vitamin D analogues are widely used for the bone and mineral disorder associated with CKD. However, accumulating evidence suggests that vitamin D analogues may have actions other than their effects on bone and mineral metabolism. In this article, we review th...
متن کاملVitamin D and Its Analogues Decrease Amyloid-β (Aβ) Formation and Increase Aβ-Degradation
Alzheimer's disease (AD) is characterized by extracellular plaques in the brain, mainly consisting of amyloid-β (Aβ), as derived from sequential cleavage of the amyloid precursor protein. Epidemiological studies suggest a tight link between hypovitaminosis of the secosteroid vitamin D and AD. Besides decreased vitamin D level in AD patients, an effect of vitamin D on Aβ-homeostasis is discussed...
